what is CST?

CranioSacral Therapy ( CST ) is a manual therapy that enhances the body’s natural healing process.

It is a gentle hands-on method of evaluating, treating and facilitating the improvement in function of a
physiological body system called the CranioSacral system.

It is comprised of the bones, membranes & fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord.

All of these structure are set in a gentle rhythmic motion by the movement of cerebrospinal fluid.
The free flow offluid to every tissue in the body is essential to good health.

A well tuned craniosacral system has a systemic healing effect on the whole body.

The Healing Power of Gentle Touch

The craniosacral therapist uses a light, well intentioned touch to tune into restriction patterns in the body.

SomatoEmotional Release (SER)

SomatoEmotional ® Release (SER) is a natural therapeutic process that the client’s whole body spontaneously goes into during a CranioSacral Therapy session.

multihands craniosacral therapy (CST)

Multi-hands CST treatment involves two or more therapists working with one client at a time.

This multi-hands approach offers the client a potentially deeper experience in a way that can only be done with the support of a group.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) was developed by Dr. John Upledger, osteopathic physician. In 1985 he founded The Upledger Institute, Inc. ® in Palm Beach Florida to educate the public and healthcare practitioners about the benefits of CranioSacral Therapy.

The foundation of CranioSacral therapy extends back to the early 1900s when Cranial osteopathy was being developed by Dr. William Sutherland.

Today the Upledger Institute International educates practitioners all over the world under their satellite programmes.

Upledger trained practitioners regularly update their skills and training.

Practitioners who have successfully completed all their requirements for CranioSacral Techniques Certification can use the initials CST-T after their name.

Practitioners who further their training and go onto become an Upledger Certified CranioSacral Diplomate Therapist can add the initials CST-D. Our therapists are all listed on the Upledger Australia site of Upledger Certified CST practitioners.
